Currently we are in the midst of building a new boathouse in collaboration with design Studio Piet Boon. The boathouse will be located at our yard in Heeg, bordered by waterways and overlooking an open Dutch landscape. The idea is to create a space to welcome customers and display our finished yachts in an inspiring, architectonical building. A place where we can showcase our dedication to craftsmanship and penchant for beautiful materials and details.
Architecturally, the building coordinates two functions: an outdoor covered boathouse and interior office & lounges, creating a marina at the intersection of the two buildings. The generous boat house is given a level of transparency and lightness by horizontal and vertical louvers in the facade to reveal the client's yacht inside. A large covered veranda overlooks the harbor and serves as an outdoor space to display the yachts.
For the exterior of the building, simple materials such as aged wood and traditional patinated roof tiles with lead details were predominantly chosen. The interior of the boathouse is a combination of exposed wood and steel structural elements, while the interior of the office consists of light stucco with a molded or tiled floor. The high ceilings in the interior lounge and large window openings create light and a spacious environment that give the entrance a particularly dramatic view of the boathouse.
